Rockefeller Center and Rock Center Cafe
I BELIEVE in the supreme worth of the Individual and in his Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness
While racing from the subway to Mass, I saw a building out of the corner of my eye. I recognized it, but I did not know why. I didn't have time to stop and look. After church, I decided to investigate. That building that I saw out of the corner of my eye was the big, tall one in Rockefeller Center! I was so excited when I realized what it was. I recognize it from TV and movies. Really something to see it up close!
I thought I got a good photograph of it, but I did not. That just means I have to go back and take a photo of it another time!
I BELIEVE that every right implies a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation, every possession, a duty
I BELIEVE that the law was made for man and not man for the law; that government is the servant of the people and not their master
I BELIEVE in the dignity of labor, whether with head or hand that the world owes no man a living but that it owes every man an opportunity to make a living
I BELIEVE that thrift is essential to well-ordered living and that economy is a prime requisite of a sound financial structure, whether in government, business or personal affairs
I BELIEVE that truth and justice are fundamental to an enduring social order
I BELIEVE in the sacredness of a promise, that a man's word should be as good as his bond; that character--not wealth or power or position--is of supreme worth
I BELIEVE that the rendering of useful service is the common duty of mankind and that only in the purifying fire of sacrifice is the dross of selfishness consumed and the greatness of the human soul set free
I BELIEVE in an all wise and loving God, named by whatever name, and that the individual's highest fulfillment, greatest happiness and widest usefulness are to be found in living in harmony with His will
To complete the picture of glamour, there was a limo waiting on the street, behind this display of flags.
Limos. I always want one, but so far, no dice.
I'm so glad there was a breeze! Flags look especially pretty when they wave in the wind!
A pleasant surprise to find a café at Rockefeller Center! I thought there was an ice-skating rink in winter and concrete floor and nothing else the rest of the year.

I could almost see Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra in their sailor suits singing, New York! New York! A wonderful town! The Bronx is up and The Battery's down. The people ride in a hole in the ground. New York! New York! It's a wonderful town! --On the Town, 1949
I decided to treat myself to blueberry pancakes. They were delicious. Quite fluffy! And worth every penny of the $18 bill. (Yikes!)
It has been awhile since I've had real New York Cheesecake with blueberry compote. Cheesecake Factory does not know how to make it, and they don't offer blueberry syrup.... and apparently, Rockefeller Center does not know how to make it either.
Actually, in fairness, Rockefeller Center got the cheesecake itself en pointe. I was very pleased. However, they decided to do a cake-y, cornmeal crust instead of the traditional graham cracker crust it is supposed to have.
When it comes to cheesecake, I'm serious about it. There's no room for creativity.
(I would have preferred blueberry compote to the blueberry syrup that was served, but Rock Center Café did a pretty good job with that, too).
Sitting at the café is a fun experience, I highly recommend it!
Since life is full of humorous moments, I leave you with Rockefeller Center in Legos.
But I am also romantic and sentimental, so I give the last word to John D. Rockefeller, Jr.
I BELIEVE that Love is the Greatest thing in the World
