A Tree really does Grow in Brooklyn

I have often walked down the street before
But the pavement always
Stayed beneath my feet before

(For safety reasons, I declined to post anything in the vicinity of where I am staying.  But now that I am leaving Brooklyn for another dwelling, here is a look at my first impression of New York).

On Thursday, 9/14, I heard my very first songs ever in NYC.  One, was on my way to the bookstore with some friends, Hotel CaliforniaYou can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.

Later that day, I dropped off a Thank You note at Ruth's Chris and I heard, When the lights, go down in the city, and the sun shines on the Bay.  Oh! I want to be there in my city....

And then I thought, "Aww.  That's cute.  San Francisco thinks it's a city."  ;-)  It's so little!

Oddly enough, I always thought I'd end up in San Francisco.  I sure tried hard!

So I appreciate that the first two songs I heard in New York were all about California.

On Friday, I had Alexander technique and a Speech & Voice class.  I came back to Brooklyn and rested and studied.  Same thing on Saturday.

Let the time go by
I won't care if I
Can be here on the street where you live

Now Sunday, 9/17 was very exciting!  And so was the rest of the week!  So I hope to get caught-up on my blog by Monday, because I am certain this week is full of great surprises, too.

Unexpected frustration with NYC:  In Brooklyn, my phone chooses if it wants to take calls and use data to send photos to my e-mail.  In California, my phone always worked.  But here, with 8.5 million people and more technology, my phone is not sure it wants to cooperate.  That's why I'm behind quite a bit on these posts.  I have to remember to e-mail photos to myself when I'm in Manhattan, so I can then work on the blog from my computer in Brooklyn.

But more than half the time, I don't have time or I forget to do it.  I didn't expect for technology to be an issue in a city that is so advanced! But.... there are still lots of pay phones in Manhattan.  So for all my joking that San Francisco thinks it's a city, maybe I should also be poking fun that NYC hasn't quite caught up with the 21st century!
